A considered approach

We do not claim to be perfect. We commit to making better choices, one decision at a time, and to being clear about where we stand.

Materials that matter

We build our pieces from fibres chosen for longevity and comfort: modal, long-staple cotton and considered viscose blends. Modal is derived from responsibly managed beech and prized for its softness and colour retention; long-staple cotton resists pilling and keeps its hand over years of wear.

Our fabrics are sourced from mills certified to the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, meaning they are tested for harmful substances at every stage of production. Where a fabric cannot meet our standard for feel, durability and provenance, we do not use it.

Made to order, by design

The single largest source of waste in fashion is making garments no one buys. We answer that directly: nearly everything is cut and sewn to order. By producing to genuine demand rather than to forecast, we avoid the deadstock, markdowns and landfill that follow overproduction. It is a slower model, and a more honest one.

Packaging

  • Recyclable tissue in place of single-use plastic wrap.
  • — A reusable cotton pouch that protects your piece and earns a second life at home.
  • — Mailers and cartons chosen for recycled content and recyclability.
  • — Minimal printing and no unnecessary inserts.

We continue to review every component of a parcel and remove what a shipment does not truly need.

Longevity over trend

The most sustainable garment is the one already in your wardrobe. We design pieces that sit outside the trend cycle and construct them to be kept — clean lines, durable fibres and finishes that age gracefully. Buying well and keeping longer is, quietly, the most meaningful thing any of us can do.

Care as conservation

How a garment is laundered shapes its lifespan and its footprint. We favour fabrics that perform at lower wash temperatures and air-dry well, and we provide clear care guidance with every piece. Washing cooler, less often and line-drying preserves both the cloth and its impact.

Honesty and progress

We will not overstate our position with vague claims. We are a young, independent house still refining our supply chain, and there is further to go on traceability and end-of-life. We will share progress plainly as we make it, and welcome your questions at care@thelunesse.com.
